Background

Max is a prostitute on Nassau on New Providence Island. She is in a relationship with Eleanor Guthrie.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 1 I. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

John Silver is taken to a room and is brought to "Blackbeard" who is a prostitute with a lot of hair below. He is then pleasured by Max, Idelle and some other prostitutes. Max finds a page and notices Silver is constantly keeping an eye on it and asks Silver why it is so important. Silver sneaks onto The Walrus with Max's help and starts searching through Captain Flint's books. Max comforts Eleanor after Captain Charles Vane assaults her. Later, Idelle tells Max that Rackham is waiting for her and Max tells Rackham that she has something that he might want to buy.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 2 II. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Eleanor gets up and looks outside at the beach. Max wakes up and Eleanor tells her how when Richard Guthrie ran things, the place was in chaos and filthy. She tells Max that a man-o'-war was spotted and she worries that the Royal Navy will come back to reclaim Nassau. Mr. Scott knocks on the door and asks to see Eleanor. Max is using her hand to pleasure Handjob Pirate who tells her that he wants to have sex, but she tells him that Eleanor pays to have Max for her own. Silver walks through the door and interrupts them and Handjob Pirate is upset with Silver's lack of decency.

Silver tells Max that Flint has discovered that he has the schedule and they should quickly make the deal and leave for Port Royal. Silver looks through a peephole as Frasier appraises the pearls for Max. Max agrees to the payment and tells Rackham to go to the Wrecks at sundown in order to receive the schedule. Vane barges in and accuses Max of lying about the schedule and Rackham notices Silver looking through the peephole and tells Vane. Eleanor goes to see Max and Noonan tells her that Max won't tell him what happened. Max starts to tell Eleanor about her plan when Eleanor tells her to giver her the schedule. Max tells her that Vane will kill her if she doesn't deliver the page. Gates knocks on the door and Max realizes Eleanor betrayed her. Flint, Gates and Billy Bones enter the room and Max tells them where the schedule will be delivered. She later packs her things and leaves the brothel.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 3 III. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Vane walks into a building where a beaten and naked Max is tied up. He asks her why she left the bordello when she had protection and she asks him how it felt when Eleanor threw him away. As Rackham is sneaking Max to the boat, he is stopped by Hamund who tells him that the crew will decide when Max leaves. Eleanor hears Max screaming and runs out of Vane's tent and sees Hamund raping Max. Eleanor declares that Vane's crew from now on will be cut off from the island and its resources unless they elect a new captain and join Flint. Eleanor tries to comfort Max, but Max tells her that Eleanor is the cause of everything by not leaving with her. Max then walks to Vane and says she will stay until her debt is paid.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 4 IV. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Max has sex with Slade and afterwards tells him the better he treats her, the more he will enjoy their sex. Hamund hears what Slade says and goes into Max's tent and beats her.

Rackham has Mrs. Mapleton tend to Max and when Mrs. Mapleton is too rough with Max, Anne Bonny tells her to leave and tends to Max herself. Anne tells Max a story of when she cut off a pirate's balls when he put them on her shoulder when she was asleep.

Max looks out her tent towards Anne. Later after killing Hamund, Anne returns Max to the brothel and Max thanks her.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 7 VII. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Idelle tells Max that Alice made her porridge. Idelle tells her that the other prostitutes are wondering how she made Hamund and the others disappear. She then tells Max that she and the other prostitutes are stealing from Rackham. Rackham tells Distressed Whore that she isn't making enough money and will have to leave. Distressed Whore starts to cry and Alice gives Rackham five pieces of coin. Max walks up to Alice and tells her that she knows Alice just serviced Captain Hallendale and he gave her more money. Alice argues with Max, who slaps her and then admits to Rackham that she was lying and will never do it again.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 8 VIII. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Rackham fires Mrs. Mapleton and Max brings up that none of the powerful merchants will care what Mrs. Mapleton tells them about the death of Noonan as they are all enjoying themselves at the brothel. Mrs. Mapleton angrily walks away and Rackham gives a cheers to Max. Later, Eleanor apologizes to Max and Max congratulates her on her endeavor.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 1 IX. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Rackham goes to the brothel and Anne asks him what happened after seeing his broken nose. Anne asks who did it to him and he tells her that she can't kill all of their enemies. Max tells Anne that she will send someone up to tend to Rackham, but Anne tells her to get away. Eleanor has a meeting with Rackham, Max and Anne and complains to Rackham that Captain Hallendale failed to capture a ship, because he is spending too much time at the brothel. Max tells Eleanor that she sold the information to Ned Low and Eleanor warns her not to meddle in her affairs again. After the meeting, Anne angrily tells Rackham that either Max is turned into a prostitute again or Anne will deal with her. Max talks with Anne and they kiss.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 2 X. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Max walks into her room and finds a drunk Anne who tells her that she feels guilty for betraying Rackham and sleeping with Max. Rackham confronts Max about seducing Anne and Max tells him that there is nothing he can do about it. Anne wakes up in the middle of the night and goes to Max's bedroom and they have sex. Rackham catches them and offers a compromise that Max will provide all leads to him and then he and Anne will gather a crew and act on those leads.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 3 XI. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Anne and Max have sex and Anne grabs for Max's hand afterwards. Vane goes to the bordello and makes a deal with Max that she provide him with information on Ned's prize and he will remove the black mark he put on Rackham and Anne. As he is walking away, Max offers to tell him how she got over loving Eleanor, but he doesn't want to hear it. Rackham and Anne return to the bordello and Vane asks Rackham and Anne to sit with him. Vane tells them that he wants to repair their reputations and he is doing it because of Max. Max tells Vane what Ned's cargo is and Vane shakes Rackham's hand publicly. Rackham celebrates with Anne about getting a crew and she invites him to have sex with her and Max.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 4 XII. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

After Max, Rackham and Anne's threesome, Alice knocks on Max's door and tells her that she is needed. Max tells Rackham that it is his fault for them being in competition over Anne. Max brings him to speak with Idelle, who tells him that Mr. Featherstone, the navigator on the Colonial Dawn is looking to find another captain and offers to get Featherstone to join Rackham. Later, Max walks over to Rackham and Anne and tells them that Featherstone tomorrow will join Rackham and Anne.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 5 XIII. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

As Anne, Rackham and Max are having a threesome, Anne notices Max paying attention to Rackham. They are then interrupted by cannon ball explosions. Rackham asks Max if any of Flint's crew have gone to the brothel and Anne thinks that Flint's crew were told not to go to the brothel so they couldn't divulge a secret. They approach Charlotte and ask her if Logan has visited her and asks her to find out about the Urca gold.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 6 XIV. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Idelle tells Max that the crew of the Eagle were recruiting along the beach when Anne asked to join and then plunged a marlinspike into the quartermaster's jaw when he rejected her. Idelle worries that Anne is going to get revenge on Max, but Max doesn't think so. Charlotte knocks on Max's office door and tells her that Logan told her that Flint forbade his men from going to the brothel. Later, Max and Idelle go into Charlotte's room and find the bodies of Charlotte and Logan and Anne sitting by herself and Max promises to cover for Anne. Silver goes to the brothel and tells Max to send Logan back to camp. Max shows Silver the bodies of Logan and Charlotte and Silver comes up with a story that Logan and Charlotte fled to Providence.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 7 XV. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Max has Anne's bloody clothes burned and returns Anne's hat to her. Max tells Anne that she has told the prostitutes to spread the word that Charlotte and Logan fled to Providence. Anne tells Max how Rackham saved her from her abusive husband and all she has ever been has been Rackham's right hand person. Idelle tells Max that her and some of the other prostitutes don't like having Anne around, and Max warns her not to bring the topic up with her again as Anne was the only one willing to save Max.

Max finds Anne outside a room used for prostitution and comforts her. Max tells Anne that she understands what she is going through and asks Anne to be her partner in her spy ring. Silver tells Max that the Urca gold wasn't put back on Spanish ship, but that the crew guarding it started to die from a sickness and it is now undefended and he bribed Vincent and Nicholas to tell Flint the gold was gone. He then suggests they come up with a crew to get it.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 8 XVI. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Featherstone storms into the brothel and goes to Max's office and asks her and Rackham how he is supposed to gather that much gold and bring it back without anyone else knowing. He asks where they are going to put the gold once they get it. Max then tells Featherstone to continue what he is doing and the plan will work. Max notices Rackham is upset and he admits that he never really knew Anne. Featherstone, Rackham and Max come up with a plan to store the gold and Rackham comes up with the idea to store the gold in the fort.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 9 XVII. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

After Richard's death, Max offers Eleanor bread and fruits. Eleanor tells Max that she and Vane are at war and that those people waiting to give their condolences are only doing it so that Eleanor knows they are not her enemies. Max tells Rackham to leave as soon as possible for the Urca gold. After they are almost assassinated, Rackham, Featherstone and Anne go to the brothel and Max tells them that Mr. Stayton and Mr. Atz are dead and tells them to leave as soon as possible.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 10 XVIII. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Idelle tells Max that word on the street is that Eleanor was given to the Navy by Captain Benjamin Hornigold. Max wonders if Eleanor will be tried for piracy. Max goes to the tavern and sees a dummy made of Eleanor with a sign around its neck saying Good Riddance. She walks into Eleanor's office and tells Frasier that she heard Captain Naft and Captain Lawrence's crews fled when they heard Eleanor was captured. Max then offers to buy the tavern from Frasier. Later, Street Kid Runner tells Max that Rackham is back and she and Idelle run to the beach where Rackham shows them all the gold they recovered.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 1 XIX. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

At the bordello, the Mock Judge says the evidence has been collected and asks Eleanor Impersonator if they have anything to say in their defense. Eleanor Impersonator then makes a lewd comment. Max apologizes to Mr. Scott for the crude act, but says it is what the pirates need. The Mock Judge sentences Eleanor Impersonator to death and Death Figure walks down the stairs and gives the kiss of death to Eleanor Impersonator. Mr. Scott complains about the progress of the rebuilding of the fort. He mentions that Captain Vernon's crew walked off the site and Anne says that Vernon's crew only left a few days ago, but Mr. Scott corrects her and says it has been weeks.

After Mr. Scott leaves, Max complains to Anne about Rackham not doing his job of rebuilding the fort. Later, Max tells Anne that even though she now owns a tavern, brothel, tanner, and a butcher, she understands that in end, it can be easily taken from her. Anne reassures her that Rackham will have the fort rebuilt and Max asks her if he will be able to find men to guard it.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 2 XX. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Max tells Rackham her idea of exchanging some of the gold for pearls. Rackham starts to complain that he rarely sees Anne and thinks that Anne will always choose to be with Max, but Max assures him that Anne will always choose Rackham in the end. Later, Rackham tells Max and Anne that he agrees with exchanging some of the gold for things of equal value and asks Max not to tell Vane or Flint. Max tells Anne that she understands that at some point, she and Anne will have to part and they kiss.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 3 XXI. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

An Appraiser has black pearls sold by Wealthy Merchant appraised for Max. Anne walks up to Max and tells her that the rumor is Wealthy Merchant cheated his partner. The appraiser tells Max and the Wealthy Merchant that 316 black pearls will be exchanged for 46,121 pieces of eight. The Wealthy Merchant disparages Max's ethnic background and tells her about the new governor arriving in Nassau. Max tells Rackham, Vane and Featherstone about the incoming fleet and when they are expected to arrive. Rackham comes up with an idea to protect the bay with various crews including those belonging to Burgess, Woodall and the Cockrams. He continues that if they present a large show of force, the British may turn around and leave.

Max and Anne hide some more valuables and Max tells Anne that soon they will need to go their separate ways. Anne asks Max why Max won't come with her, and Max tells her how she would watch her white father as he took care of his white daughter while Max lived in the slave quarters. Max tells her that she craves peace which she cannot have running away with Anne.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 5 XXIII. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Eme brings a drink to Max. Featherstone tells Idelle about his pardon and asks her if he being a humble bookkeeper will make him less attractive to her. Eleanor has a meeting with Max and tells her that Woodes Rogers is going to create a governing council and that he wants Max to bless the council, even if she will not be on it. Eleanor threatens Max that if she doesn't support the council, Rogers will make Max's life miserable. Max walks into the room while Rogers is having a meeting and asks to speak with him in private. She tells him that she cannot endorse his version of Nassau if she is considered an outsider and offers him a black pearl in order to become friends. Eleanor realizes it is part of the Spanish gold.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 6 XXIV. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Max walks up to Rogers and asks why Rackham was arrested. Later, Max is brought to Rackham and she tells him that everyone will know that it was Rackham that saved Nassau and Rackahm tells her that he sent word to Anne to take the cache and run. Rackham tells Max that either Rogers will realize he cannot win and leave Nassau or Spain will raze it to the ground and Nassau will be reborn again as a pirate haven and everyone will know that the new pirate haven was brought about by Rackham. Rogers tells Eleanor and Max that Anne must be found.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 7 XXV. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Max waits on an empty road as Anne rides up on a horse. Max tells Anne that she has come alone, and that Spanish Intelligence has learned of their plan of splitting the cache. She continues that Spain has demanded that all the value of the gold be returned, or Nassau will be destroyed. Max tells Anne that Rogers is a reasonable man. Max then tells Anne that Rackham is being tortured. Max tells Anne that if she gives up the stolen cache then Max will make sure Rackham is released. Max returns to Rogers and tells him and Eleanor that Anne will return the cache.

Eleanor tells Max that Spain demands Rackham be sent to them and while they are talking, Featherstone walks in and notices Max seems flustered. After Featherstone leaves, Eleanor promises Max that Rogers' men will not attack Anne unless in self-defense. Max has a drink with Eleanor and tells her that she has become like Eleanor and that she hears that Eleanor is having an affair with Rogers. After Dufresne is killed in her tavern, Max tells Rogers that Silver is the one who killed Dufresne. Rogers asks Max to have her prostitutes spread word about how pathetic Flint's ploy is. Max gives the message to her employees and then introduces Mapleton as the returning madame. Afterwards, Mapleton thanks Max for trusting her and offers Georgia to Max.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 8 XXVI. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Max and Georgia are having sex and afterwards, Georgia asks what Max is trying to avoid. Eleanor goes to see Max, and Max is surprised to hear that Anne let Major Rollins leave with the cache without a fight. Max then explains to Eleanor that Anne would never have let Rollins leave unless she already knew something was wrong. Eleanor tells Captain Chamberlain that Rogers is riding into a trap, but he doesn't believe her. Max tries to convince him, but he tells Eleanor that he doesn't trust her. Eleanor tells Max that more of Rogers' troops are getting sick and if Hornigold's men didn't successfully secure the cache and Rackham, then they will be at war with Spain. A wounded Rogers rides into town and is carried to see Dr. Marcus.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 9 XXVII. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

Mapleton tells Max that Idelle is the spy and tells Max she hasn't told anyone else. Max asks her why she didn't tell Eleanor and Mapleton tells her that Eleanor is the type of person that will always create new enemies. In the market area, Jacob Garrett reminds the locals of the time Vane helped them out and that Eleanor is the source of their problems. Eleanor goes to see Max and Max tells her of the growing group of people in the market and that they may try to prevent Vane being put on any ship. Eleanor says they can't hold a trial on Nassau as it could take weeks, while Max advises her to not take the easy way out.

After Vane is set to be executed in the morning, Max tells Eleanor that the locals accepted the new authority, because they believed laws would be adhered to and that Vane's quick trial and execution appear counter to that. She warns Eleanor that Vane's execution may lead to chaos, but Eleanor assures her that the decision was not made hastily. Before Vane's execution, the Court Official tells the crowd that Rogers promised them order and prosperity. The Court Official calls Vane an animal and an impediment to prosperity. The Court Official asks if Vane has any last words. Vane tells the crowd that the authorities fear not just him but the locals as Vane represents a freedom that still may exist in them. A noose is put around Vane's neck and the cart he is standing on is ridden away. Although Vane's neck snaps, he continues to spasm and Jacob and his men pull on Vane's body to end Vane's suffering.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 10 XXVIII. played by Jessica Parker Kennedy

While Eleanor is talking with Mr. Soames, Max and Captain Throckmorton show her a piece of paper with a black mark and a threat if Vane's body is not removed from the gibbet. Throckmorton tells Eleanor that someone left it on the foot of his bed while he slept. Throckmorton thinks it is an empty threat, but Max suggests they remove Vane's body to quell some of the unrest. Soames thinks that removing the body would give the appearance that they are weak, and Eleanor agrees with him. Mapleton asks Max why she didn't tell Eleanor about Idelle and her partners and as they are walking, the dead body of Throckmorton falls hanging into the square.
