Richard Guthrie
Background
Richard Guthrie runs Guthrie Sugar and Mercantile in Dunmore Town, Harbour Island. His daughter is Eleanor Guthrie. Richard also deals in pirate booty.
During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 1 I. played by Sean Cameron Michael
Captain Flint and Billy Bones go to Harbour Island to see Richard. They are let inside by the Servant and Flint tells Richard about Vasquez who had sailed with La Casa del Contracion in Seville. Vasquez was tasked with getting an escort for the L'Urca de Lime, the largest cargo ship in existence. Flint asks Richard to help him recreate the information from the stolen page, but Richard refuses. Flint grabs him by the arm and starts to break Richard's fingers and Billy pulls his pistol on Flint. Captain Hume suddenly arrives with two seamen and asks Richard what sort of business he is conducting with Flint. Richard lies and says Flint is a sugar merchant and Hume orders Flint, Billy and Richard taken into custody and Billy grabs one of the seamen's rifles and the seaman fires, hitting Richard in the shoulder. Flint then grabs Hume and slams his face into the table and Billy knocks the other seaman unconscious. Flint and Billy put an unconscious Richard on a boat and bring him onto The Walrus.
During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 3 III. played by Sean Cameron Michael
Flint and Miranda Barlow go outside and Gates has arrived with a wagon and Richard inside. Eleanor goes to visit Richard and asks for his help to find a business partner. He refuses to talk to her and she tells him that the alternative is him running back to Boston to ask his father and brothers for help. Miranda brings Richard food and he asks her who she is. Later, Richard sneaks by the pirate guarding him and searches the house and finds a painting of Miranda and a man with the inscription Mr and Mrs Thomas Hamilton.
During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 4 IV. played by Sean Cameron Michael
Mr. Scott goes to Miranda's house to get Richard for the meeting with Captain Bryson. During the meeting between Richard, Eleanor, Mr. Scott and Bryson, Richard tells Bryson that he wants him to give his cannons to Flint. Bryson thinks something is amiss and asks to speak to Richard alone. As Mr. Scott is taking Richard back to Miranda's, Richard tells Mr. Scott that Eleanor is going to get herself killed and asks for his help. Mr. Scott and Richard return to Miranda's house and Richard tells Miranda that he knows that she is Lady Hamilton. He offers to help return her to civilization and have her taken to Boston. Miranda brings Pastor Lambrick to her house and Richard tells him that he is willing to make penance for his past sins.
During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 5 V. played by Sean Cameron Michael
Eleanor goes outside and hears as Richard tells the crowd that he is a fugitive and Bryson took all the goods except the few in the warehouse and that Eleanor is in charge of giving to those who are owed credit. Eleanor confronts Richard about sending Bryson away and he blames her for falling for Flint's fantasy.

Richard tells Eleanor that he was present when Mr. Underhill was told of Eleanor's proposal to sell Underhill's goods and Underhill said no. Runner walks in to Eleanor's office and tells her that a cannonball has set one of the stores on fire. She tells him to tell Captain Lawrence to move his powder to another warehouse. Richard tells Eleanor that the merchants are willing to join her if she turns against the pirates. He tells Eleanor that all his actions were to protect her. He also tells her what a great job she has done.
During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 6 XIV. played by Sean Cameron Michael
Richard arrives with Miranda at Eleanor's bar and Flint describes what will happen if England decides to take back Nassau. He tells them that Peter Ashe is a powerful man and if they return Abigail Ashe to him then Peter will help them. Eleanor tells Flint that Peter hates pirates, but Flint tells them that he and Peter were once friends. Captain Charles Vane demands that he get something tangible and demands he get Flint's man-o-war. Richard tells Flint that his plan won't work if Flint steals the Spanish gold. Flint tells Richard that his men already saw the gold and will not stop from trying to get it.
During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 7 XV. played by Sean Cameron Michael
Richard talks with Miranda and warns her that Peter and his militia are brutal men. Eleanor arrives with Abigail and Miranda greets Abigail and Richard hugs Eleanor. As Richard is returning inland, his carriage rider stops. Richard and his helpers then get out to look ahead as a large group of men stand waiting outside the light of Richard's lamps.
During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 8 XVI. played by Sean Cameron Michael
Richard is crucified by Vane and his crew.
