A.V.M. Alexander Mackaye

Background

Alexander "Mack" "Old Leadbottom" Mackaye is the Air Vice-Marshal for the Royal Air Force. He got the nickname Leadbottom when he was shot in the butt by a German soldier. Mackaye won the Distinguished Flying Cross for shooting down three German bombing planes attacking London.

During the events of The Twilight Zone: Season 1 Episode 18 The Last Flight played by Robert Warwick

A Technical Sergeant tells Maj. Gen. George Harper that Mackaye is there to see him. Maj. Wilson asks Mackaye if he ever knew someone named Lt. William Terrance Decker. Mackaye tells him that Decker saved his life when he was surrounded by German planes. Harper asks if Decker's personal effects were returned, but Mackaye tells him that they weren't. Harper pulls out the items they took from Decker and shows them to Mackaye and Wilson calls Mackaye his old nickname.
