Detailed Synopsis

Dr. Shimizu looks at a framed photo of himself and Professor Barton Saunders during the reopening ceremony for Bar-Med Pharmaceuticals. Barton goes to Dr. Shimizu's home and Dr. Shimizu recognizes him and orders him to do the honorable thing and Barton shoots Dr. Shimizu in the neck with a dart and kills him. Barton then removes the dart and drags Dr. Shimizu's body towards a pond and pours alcohol on him to make it appear he was drunk and slipped. Jason Locke and Mike Rivers are testing a hands free piloting device on Airwolf, which turns out to be a success. Mike radios Jo Santini and tells her they are returning to base and she tells him that St. John is running with Tim Shimizu. St. John and Tim are reminiscing about their time in Bangkok as they run. Tim gets a notification on his pager that Dr. Shimizu is dead. St. John and Tim go to Dr. Shimizu's house and Tim doesn't believe Dr. Shimizu died from an accident. They go to GEI Labs and Tim finds a virus from a sample from Dr. Shimizu. He tells St. John, that the virus breaks down the white cells within the body. Dr. Shimizu's house is quarantined by the Health Department and Tim and St. John go back to Dr. Shimizu's house, but don't find any evidence of the virus in the home. While St. John and Tim are looking at the Bar-Med photo, they find a newspaper article taped to the back of it with a story about a scientist committing suicide named Professor Barton Saunders.

St. John goes to Bar-Med and speaks with Clive Harper. Clive tells St. John that Barton created a cure all that had the side effect of reducing the test subjects into brain dead cabbages. After St. John leaves, Clive calls Barton and demands he get his money. Tim continues to study the virus and tells St. John that the virus was man made. Tim suddenly collapses and is taken to the hospital and quarantined. St. John goes to the lair and Jo tells him, Locke and Mike that Bar-Med had recently spent over 2 million dollars on research. St. John and Jo go to Bar-Med while Mike and Locke fly in Airwolf as backup. Jo radios Locke and tells him, Clive's office has been ransacked already. She then finds him dead with a dart in his forehead. Barton and Price sneak up on St. John and shoot him with a dart. St. John regains consciousness and Barton thinks Clive sold him the X-Virus vaccine. St. John is dragged away by Barton and Price into an underground lab. Barton tells St. John his plan to release the X-Virus and then offer the vaccine. He continues that Dr. Shimizu wanted to give the vaccine to the government. Barton tells Technician 1 that he wants another, more concentrated does of the X-Virus administered to St. John. St. John tries to escape, but is caught and is then injected by Technician 1.

Jo finds the door to the underground lab and goes inside, but is caught. Technician 1 tells Barton that St. John has a natural immunity due to once having an extreme case of malaria. Barton tells Technician 2 to get the canisters full of the X-Virus to the warehouse. St. John uses lab rats to chew the ropes around his wrists and Jo is thrown into the room with him. Barton tells Price to kill St. John and Jo and as Price opens the door, St. John pushes cages of lab rats on him. Jo is shot by Barton with a dart and Technician 1 tells St. John that extreme heat is the only thing that will kill the virus and gives St. John the vaccine. Price is bit by the rats and dies and St. John administers the vaccine to Jo and escapes the lab. St. John tells Mike to blow up the lab and Mike shoots a missile at it. Barton escapes in a van towards the city with a canister full of the X-Virus. He gets into an elevator with a mother and her child and then climbs to the top of a building and Mike and Locke fire a laser from Airwolf at the vial of X-Virus, killing the virus and setting Barton on fire. St. John, Jo and a now cured Tim go to a bar and Tim tells them that the X-Virus vaccine is going to be used as a treatment for malaria. Locke and Mike are playing a game of pool nearby and Mike scratches the cue ball.
