Dottie is a real estate agent. Her daughter is Beth and her niece is Amanda.

During the events of Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Season 1 Episode 3 The Tale of the Lonely Ghost played by Pauline Little

It was the beginning of summer vacation and Amanda is staying with Dottie and Beth while Amanda's parents did their summer research studying Inuit stone carvings. Dottie and Amanda arrive at Dottie's home and Dottie calls to Beth to let her know Amanda has arrived, but Beth ignores her. Amanda hears a noise coming from the house next door and Dottie tells her that no one has lived there in years and says that as its real estate agent, she thinks sometimes the house doesn't want to be sold. Dottie then takes Amanda up to Beth's room.

In the morning, Beth and Dottie argue about Nanny and how Beth doesn't want Nanny around anymore. One evening, when Dottie came home, Amanda tells her about writing on the wall next door and a Ghost. The next morning, Dottie tells Amanda and Beth that they have to scrub the writing from the wall of the neighbor house.
