At George Weasley and Fred Weasley's magic novelty shop, Hermione Granger looks over and sees Cormac smiling at her. Albus Dumbledore introduces the students to Professor Horace Slughorn and tells the students that dark forces are trying to penetrate Hogwarts. During Quidditch tryouts, Ron Weasley and Cormac compete for the Keeper position. During the game, Hermione uses magic to cause Cormac to miss a save and Ron gets on the team. At Slughorn's dinner party, Slughorn asks Cormac and Marcus Belby about their famous relatives.
