== Background ==
General Klytus is second in command to [[The Emperor Ming]].  He controls the Imperial Secret Police on the planet Mongo.  


== During the events of [[Flash Gordon (1980)]] played by [[Peter Wyngarde]] ==
Klytus and Ming decide to entertain themselves by attacking Earth with a series of natural disasters.  [[Klytus Observer No. 2]] tells him that a rocket has been observed on radar and he orders it safely brought to Mongo.  During the tribute ceremony held, Klytus orders [[Prince Barin]] and [[Prince Vultan]] to stop their fighting after Barin accuses Vultan of stealing his tribute to Ming and a fight almost breaks out.  When [[Dr. Hans Zarkov]] is strapped to a table, Klytus has his memories removed and then tells [[Kala]] to reprogram Zarkov's brain.  After [[Flash Gordon]] escapes, Klytus suspects [[Princess Aura]] of helping Flash and he and Kala torture her.  He is then promised Aura by Ming.  He takes a rocket towards Arboria where Flash escaped to and tells [[Klytus' Pilot]] to wake him when they get close to Vultan's palace.  He then lands on Vultan's palace and orders Vultan to hand over Barin and Flash.  Klytus is then killed by Flash who pushes him onto a large spike.
