Lucius Malfoy

Background

Lucius Malfoy is a wizard. His wife is Narcissa Malfoy, his son is Draco Malfoy and his House-Elf is Dobby. Lucius' sister-in-law is Bellatrix Lestrange.

During the events of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) played by Jason Isaacs

Draco and Lucius enter Borgin & Burke and Lucius sells some of his things to Mr Borgin in case his house is raided by the Ministry of Magic. At Flourish and Blotts, Draco and Lucius walk up to Harry Potter and Lucius grabs Harry and uses the end of his cane to part Harry's hair to reveal his scar. Lucius tells Harry his scar is legendary as is the wizard who gave it to him and Harry calls Voldemort a murderer. When Lucius comments on Harry using Voldemort's name, Hermione Granger mentions fear of a name only increases fear of the thing itself. Lucius insults Hermione and her parents and Ron Weasley and his siblings and grabs Ginny Weasley's second hand book and calls Mr Weasley a disgrace to wizards and puts Ginny's book back, plus another into her cauldron pail. Later, Lucius walks into Hagrid's hut and tells Albus Dumbledore the governors have decide it is time for Dumbledore to step aside as Headmaster of Hogwarts. As Hagrid is leaving with Cornelius Fudge to Azkaban, he mentions to follow the spiders and someone will have to feed Fang. After the Basilisk is defeated, Lucius walks into Dumbledore's office with Dobby and is upset to see Dumbledore back at Hogwarts. Dumbledore shows Lucius the journal that was used to entrance Ginny and Dobby motions at Lucius to Harry. As Lucius is leaving, Harry hands him the journal and accuses Lucius of sticking it in Ginny's pail at the bookstore. Lucius hands Dobby the journal and tells Harry to prove his accusation. Harry tells Dobby to open the journal and Dobby finds one of Harry's socks inside of it. Dobby becomes free due to Lucius presenting Dobby with clothes and as Lucius is about to attack Harry with a spell, Dobby defends Harry and Lucius threatens Harry.


During the events of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) played by Jason Isaacs

As Arthur takes the Weasleys, Harry and Hermione to their seats in the stadium for the Quidditch World Cup, Lucius and Draco make fun of how far away the Weasley seats are from the field. Later, Voldemort sends out the Dark Mark and a group of Death Eaters appear, among them the fathers of Crabbe and Goyle. Lucius Malfoy is also present and Voldemort gives Peter Pettigrew a metal hand to replace the one Peter cut off. Voldemort challenges Harry to a duel and as they are dueling, their wands appear to cancel each other out. The dead spirits of Frank Bryce, Cedric Diggory, James Potter and Lily Potter appear and James tells Harry to run to the Goblet, which acts as a Portkey. Harry is transferred back to the maze location and Voldemort yells in anger.

During the events of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) played by Jason Isaacs

Before Harry's trial, Harry and Mr Weasley see Fudge speaking to Lucius, who is trying to convince Fudge to convict Harry. Harry, Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Neville Longbottom, and Luna Lovegood take the elevator to the Department of Mysteries and Neville finds a globe of prophecy with Harry's name on it. Harry picks up the prophecy which states that neither him or Voldemort can survive while the other lives. They are surrounded by Death Eaters, including Lucius, who reveals to Harry that Voldemort tricked him and Sirius Black was not in danger. They demand the prophecy and a running battle starts. Harry and the others escape to the room of the Veil where they are surrounded by the Death Eaters and his friends are captured. The Order of the Phoenix arrive and another battle starts. The prophecy is destroyed when Lucius drops it. Bellatrix Lestrange casts the Avada Kedavra spell against Sirius, hurtling him towards the Veil, which absorbs him.
