Mr. Scott

Background

Scott is a bartender at a tavern on Nassau on New Providence Island. His wife is The Maroon Queen and his daughter is Madi. Scott used to be Richard Guthrie's personal houseboy.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 1 I. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Gates goes up to Mr. Scott and tells him that he needs to speak to Eleanor Guthrie. Elanor walks out of her office and tells the room full of pirates that she won't help anyone that runs away from the navy. Sanderson calls her a cunt and when Eleanor finds out how much Sanderson's captain brought in, she ignores the insult and calls Sanderson an earner. Gates tells Eleanor about Singleton trying to take over as captain and asks for a loan. Mr. Scott doesn't think Eleanor should give Gates the money, but Eleanor agrees to give him the money. Later, Joshua tells Gates that Mosiah was murdered and he, Gates, Eleanor and Mr. Scott go to where Joshua found Mosiah's body and he tells them that Mosiah's last word was Vane.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 2 II. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Mr. Scott knocks on Max's door and asks to see Eleanor. Mr. Scott tells Eleanor that a crew is waiting for her with 50 barrels of tobacco and a fluyt's worth of silk. He then warns her that she shouldn't provoke Captain Charles Vane. As he is looking to sell his loot, Captain Bridge insults Eleanor and Mr. Scott and then scoffs at the amount she is willing to pay for his loot. After Bridge threatens to take his loot elsewhere, Vane walks up and challenges him and Bridge backs down after he hears who Vane is. Captain Flint tells Eleanor that Richard is a fugitive and he has him on The Walrus. Flint tells her and Mr. Scott about the L'Urca de Lime.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 3 III. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Mr. Scott walks into the room and tells Eleanor that Max escaped from the bordello. John Silver finishes writing the schedule and hands the paper to Gates. Flint reads it and notices Silver left some details out. Silver admits that he left some parts out as he figured they would kill him and offers to join their crew for a piece of the prize. Flint asks him why he doesn't think they will kill him when they get the L'Urca de Lime and Silver tells him that he assumes they will be friends by then. Flint tells Eleanor that he will need another ship and lists off a series of other things including a dozen 12-pound cannons. Mr. Scott asks Eleanor where she plans on getting the cannons from and she tells him that she will take them from Captain Bryson. He also tells her that if ships stop coming due to Richard's arrest then they will run out of supplies.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 4 IV. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Captain Benjamin Hornigold confronts Mr. Scott about Eleanor humiliating Vane and mentions that other captains are worried about losing their livelihoods, because they may have upset Eleanor. He tells him that every morning he sees Captain Lilywhite raving to others about the problems of having only one person to sell their goods. He then warns Mr. Scott to control Eleanor. O'Malley tells Mr. Scott that the Andromache has arrived. Mr. Scott tells Eleanor that Captain Bryson has arrived and she figures out that Hornigold was complaining about her. She tells him that she doesn't care what the captains think and he warns her not to try and detain Bryson if he disagrees with her plan.

Mr. Scott goes to Miranda's house to get Richard for the meeting with Bryson. During the meeting between Richard, Eleanor, Mr. Scott and Bryson, Richard tells Bryson that he wants him to give his cannons to Flint. Bryson thinks something is amiss and asks to speak to Richard alone. When Eleanor and Mr. Scott leave the room, she indicates to Mr. Scott that O'Malley and a few other men are ready to take Bryson hostage if she gives the order. Bryson walks out of the room and tells Eleanor she will have her cannons and then calls Hayes to leave. As Mr. Scott is taking Richard back to Miranda's, Richard tells Mr. Scott that Eleanor is going to get herself killed and asks for his help. Mr. Scott and Richard return to Miranda's house and that night while O'Malley is on watch to make sure Bryson is bringing the cannons, Mr. Scott takes his rifle away and knocks him unconscious.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 5 V. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Bryson walks to where the slaves are being held on his ship and tells Mr. Scott, who is chained up, that he failed in his duty.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 6 VI. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

The slaves pass a rag to each other until it reaches Eme who tries to hand it to Mr. Scott. When he doesn't take it, Alpha Slave says something and Eme translates to Mr. Scott that Alpha Slave wants him to take it and place it through a porthole. The Alpha Slave continues speaking and Eme tells Mr. Scott that the Alpha Slave has a plan to help the crew of The Walrus and thinks if they do, then The Walrus crew will take them with them. Mr. Scott refuses and says he cannot let the cannons get onto The Walrus. Eme then does it herself.

Eme tells Mr. Scott that he will never see the person he is willing to sacrifice their lives for again. The slaves are thrown a spike from the porthole and when their guard checks on them, Mr. Scott tells him that Eme is a trouble maker. As the guard is about to search Eme, Mr. Scott chokes him to death with his chains. The crew of The Walrus start to rhythmically chop at the Andromache and Mr. Scott figures their plan out and uses the spike to start breaking the chains. Bryson figures out something is wrong and sends Hayes to the hold. The slaves attack and kill them and then charge into the bunker and as Bryson is choking Mr. Scott to death, he is shot in the face by a Walrus crew member. Mr. Scott opens the door of the bunker allowing The Walrus crew to come in. As Bryson crawls to the explosive charge he set, Eme stabs him to death.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 7 VII. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Mr. Scott tells Eleanor that he betrayed her out of love. He goes to bring food to the slaves and Eme asks him if Eleanor agreed to let them go. Eleanor tells Mr. Scott that the able bodied slaves will be given to Lawrence to replace his crew members who quit, while she was able to get enough money to purchase the women who she will then employ. He tells her that he has joined Hornigold's crew and Eleanor tells him to leave.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 8 VIII. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Mr. Scott tells Eleanor that Hornigold wanted him to sit in for Hornigold during Lawrence's final preparations for departure. He checks on Eleanor and tells her that she is who he cares about, not the business.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 3 XI. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Scrawny Teenager gives Mr. Scott a message hidden in tobacco. Mr. Scott goes to see Eleanor and she tries to get information from him. He tells her that she needs to figure out what she wants, where her loyalties lie and who she trusts. They hear a woman screaming and Eleanor walks to the beach.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 4 XII. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Hornigold tells his attack plan to Flint, Mr. Scott, De Groot, and Dufresne. Flint asks how long it will take to rebuild the fort and Hornigold asks him if he intends to follow through on his threat to take the fort. Mr. Scott tells Flint and the others that some pirates have joined Vane's forces. Later, Flint asks Mr. Scott his opinion and Mr. Scott thinks taking the fort would be a bad idea. Flint walks to his and Hornigold's crew and tells them to fire on the fort.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 5 XIII. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Flint tells his crew to cease fire and De Groot repeats the order. Flint then orders his crew to prepare to move ashore. Flint and his crew make it ashore and Hornigold tells Flint that he told his men to keep it a secret that Flint intends on going after the Spanish gold.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 6 XIV. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Hornigold tells Flint that it is time to recapture the fort. Flint tells the plan to allow Vane to stay in the fort to Dufresne and Hornigold. Hornigold refuses to accept the deal and says that he will hold a council to take over as captain instead of Flint.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 7 XV. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Before the vote, Hornigold makes his speech and calls Flint a liar, murderer, thief and betrayer. Silver walks up to Flint and tells him that they need to talk and Flint looks and then tells Flint that the Urca gold is gone. The pirates overhear Silver and start talking to each other about the stolen gold. The vote is then cancelled.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 8 XVI. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Silver tells the crew a story of when he was on a merchant vessel and when he first saw Charles Town. He continues about how he and the rest of the crew saw the execution of Solomon Little. Mr. Scott tells Billy Bones about how quickly Flint was able to gain influence through the power of a story, but Silver might be competition as a story teller. Billy then tells Scott that Silver stole the story from Bernard.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 9 XVII. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Mr. Scott sees Dooley staring into the water and Dooley tells him that he saw something in the water. Billy sees Vane's men climb onto the deck and warns his fellow pirates. A battle erupts and during it, Vane kills Joshua and then fights Billy. The battle ends and Jenks tells Vane that the Man-'o' War is secure. The Boat Captain tells Vane and his men that Peter Ashe has a message for them, Flint has violated Peter's trust and he will be placed under arrest. Flint will be put on trial and hung and if the pirate ship remains, it will be sunk. Vane gets free of Vincent and brings Vincent and Silver on deck. Vane tells his crew that Nassau is strongest when it is feared and suggests they free Flint.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 2 Episode 10 XVIII. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Yardley has Baymen Lieutenant grab Silver and Flint's crew stand up to block them from leaving with Silver. Billy headbutts Yardley and a fight breaks out, but Silver is dragged away. As Jenks is about to slit Silver's throat, Flint's crew storm into the room and Billy kills Jenks while Yardley and Baymen Lieutenant are also killed. De Groot tells the crew to raise the sails and Mr. Scott tells them to get ready to sail. Billy has the crew fire upon the blockade ships. Flint and Vane get into a boat and start to row towards the Man-o'War and are fired upon by William Rhett and some militia men. The Man-o'-War opens fire on Rhett and kills him. Flint has Vane's men released and has the ship continue to fire upon Charles Town.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 1 XIX. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

At the bordello, the Mock Judge says the evidence has been collected and asks Eleanor Impersonator if they have anything to say in their defense. Eleanor Impersonator then makes a lewd comment. Max apologizes to Mr. Scott for the crude act, but says it is what the pirates need. The Mock Judge sentences Eleanor Impersonator to death and Death Figure walks down the stairs and gives the kiss of death to Eleanor Impersonator. Mr. Scott complains about the progress of the rebuilding of the fort. He mentions that Captain Vernon's crew walked off the site and Anne Bonny says that Vernon's crew only left a few days ago, but Mr. Scott corrects her and says it has been weeks.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 2 XX. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Mr. Scott tells Vane that he is confusing the slaves by working alongside them.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 3 XXI. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Hornigold and Dufresne take a boat to Nassau. Hornigold gives a speech written by Woodes Rogers offering pardons to the pirates. He then continues that their is a bounty placed on Vane for 10,000 pounds. Captain Throckmorton then walks up to Hornigold to receive his pardon as do other pirates.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 4 XXII. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Hornigold sees Mr. Scott waiting in line to receive his pardon from the Pardon Clerk and shakes his hand. Mr. Scott asks Hornigold how he may help with the new regime and Hornigold tells him the slaves used to repair the fort have escape and Mr. Scott offers to find them. Later, Mr. Scott goes to the beach and meets up with the escaped slaves from the fortress including Serious Slave. He gives instructions to Serious Slave for when they arrive at their destination. Redcoat 1 and another British soldier sees them and tells them to halt. Mr. Scott tries to de-escalate the situation, but a fight breaks out and Redcoat 1 is injured while the other British Soldier is killed. Mr. Scott looks at his stomach and sees that he is shot and he is pulled onto the boat by Serious Slave.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 5 XXIII. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

A group of maroons carry Mr. Scott ashore on a stretcher. A medicine woman pours a poultice on Mr. Scott's wound while The Maroon Queen helps and Madi looks on. Flint is brought to Mr. Scott who tells the others to leave. Mr. Scott tells Flint that the rumor was that Flint was defeated by Hornigold and killed. Mr. Scott tells Flint that Nassau has fallen to the British and only Vane and Blackbeard resisted. Mr. Scott tells Flint the history of the maroon island and asks Flint to take on the responsibility of keeping the maroons equipped and to teach them the skills they will need to survive. Mr. Scott asks The Maroon Queen to listen to what Flint has to say and Madi tells him that she talked with Silver so that she could understand something of who Mr. Scott is.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 6 XXIV. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

A shaman dances to music as the shaman applies a paste onto Mr. Scott. Later, Madi tells Mr. Scott that she worries about their agreement with Flint, but Mr. Scott assures her that both Flint and Silver have the ability to shape the world to their beliefs and they must be managed to best help them. Mr. Scott then apologizes to Madi for not being around her more so he could tell her about their world. He then tells her to learn about who their common villain is and Madi pulls Woodes Rogers' book from the bookcase.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 3 Episode 9 XXVII. played by Hakeem Kae-Kazim

Madi goes to speak with Mr. Scott and tells him that Eleanor is in Nassau. She tells him that she believes it will be like a civil war for him, with daughters on both sides, but he tells her that only Madi is his daughter. Later, Kofi blows a horn marking the death of Mr. Scott.
