Later in a meeting with Pothinus, Theodotus and Ptolemy XIII, Caesar is asked how long he intends to stay and Caesar asks them how their war is going against Cleopatra. Caesar then asks the whereabouts of Cleopatra and when Pothinus tells him no one knows, Posca whispers to Caesar that he is lying and that Ptolomy's people have Cleopatra. Caesar tells them the civil war must end so Rome receives its grain shipments from Egypt and asks for Pompey Magnus. Ptolemy speaks up and tells his ministers to have Cesar leave due to his tone when speaking to them. Theodotus calms Ptolemy down and suggests they give Caesar their gift. A jar is brought before Caesar and Pompey's head is pulled out. He yells at the Egyptians for their barbarity in killing Pompey in the manner they did and demands his executioner be brought to him. He then leaves and Posca takes Pompey's head which is then burned in a pyre that night.
Caesar sends Mark Antony back to Rome while he stays in Egypt to end the Egyptian civil war so that grain may continue to feed Rome. Caesar sends Lucius Vorenus to find Cleopatra and before leaving Lucius apologizes to Caesar for allowing Pompey to escape and for the final outcome of his death. The next day Ptolomey's entourage arrive without Pompey's murderer and Caesar has Posca give Pothinus a list of money owed to Rome. Ptolemy gets off his chair, grabs the paper with the tabulations and throws it at Caesar's feet after yelling at Caesar. Caesar barks at Ptolemy to be quiet and after Ptolemy returns to his throne Cesar tells the Egyptians he shall stay to help in their civil war. Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo are waiting behind a statue waiting for clues on the whereabouts of Cleopatra. In his throne room, Ptolemy angrily kicks around furniture over the remarks of Caesar and a decision is made to kill Cleopatra. Achillas then sends Nubian Soldier and two others to kill Cleopatra in the location they have her prisoner. They pass the location Lucius and Titus are hiding and the two ride after them. Theodotus asks Septimius to stay and then gives him a letter to give to Caesar. Sentry enters Caesar's office and tells him a messenger from Ptolemy is there to see him. Septimius gives Posca the letter who then reads it aloud, the letter saying the deliverer is the one who killed Pompey Magnus. Septimius is killed and his head added to a spike outside the palace walls. Cleopatra's camp journeys to the capitol, but stops for the night. Cleopatra tells Charmian she will try and seduce Caesar in order to survive. She believes if she births him a son than she will have him as an ally. Charmian has the idea to have Lucius or Titus get Cleopatra pregnant as it is the time of Cleopatra's fertility. Lucius is sent in first, but he refuses and sends in Titus who has sex with Cleopatra. Titus then brags to Lucius how good the sex was and tells Lucius he knows better than to tell anyone he had sex with Cleopatra. Lucius and Titus return to Alexandria and Caesar with Charmian and Cleopatra hidden in a burlap sack. Cleopatra then goes to the throne room and sentences Pothinus to die after greeting her brother, Ptolemy.
