Captain Bryson

Background

Dyfed Bryson is a merchant captain on the Andromache for Guthrie Sugar and Mercantile. He commands the largest of Richard Guthrie's supply ships.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 4 IV. played by Langley Kirkwood

Bryson goes on shore and meets Eleanor Guthrie. She tells him that a captain plans on attacking the Urca and Bryson is surprised Richard hasn't struck down the idea. During the meeting between Richard, Eleanor, Mr. Scott and Bryson, Richard tells Bryson that he wants him to give his cannons to Captain Flint. Bryson thinks something is amiss and asks to speak to Richard alone. Bryson walks out of the room and tells Eleanor she will have her cannons and then calls Hayes to leave. Later, Bryson flees with the cannons.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 5 V. played by Langley Kirkwood

Hayes tells Bryson that The Walrus will overtake them in four hours. Bryson starts firing at The Walrus causing lots of injuries and damage to the ship. Beauclerc snipes Mr. Burnett the helmsman on the Andromache. Mr. Harris goes to take the helm and is also sniped by Beauclerc and the Andromache lurches and loses the wind. The crew of The Walrus board the Andromache and in the cargo hold on the Andromache, Bryson hides with Hayes and some of his men. Bryson walks to where the slaves are being held and tells Mr. Scott, who is chained up, that he failed in his duty. Bryson has his men shoot a female slave dead and then tells his men to shoot another female slave. A Slave begs them not to and Bryson has the Slave unchained.

During the events of Black Sails: Season 1 Episode 6 VI. played by Langley Kirkwood

Lars sneaks towards the bunker, but is spotted by Hayes and shot dead. The crew of The Walrus start to rhythmically chop at the Andromache and Bryson figures out something is wrong and sends Hayes to the hold. The slaves attack and kill them and then charge into the bunker and as Bryson is choking Mr. Scott to death, he is shot in the face by a Walrus crew member. Mr. Scott opens the door of the bunker allowing The Walrus crew to come in. As Bryson crawls to the explosive charge he set, Eme stabs him to death.
