Background

Dusty is part of a storm chaser team run by Jo. He drives an old school bus called the "Barn Burner" and is the senior ranking member of the team. Dusty went to Oklahoma University.

During the events of Twister (1996) played by Philip Seymour Hoffman

Dusty is sitting in a lawn chair when Bill arrives with Melissa. Dusty greets Bill and is left with Melissa while Bill goes to talk with Jo. He then goes with the rest of Jo's team as they chase tornadoes. While eating at Aunt Meg's house, Dusty explains to Melissa how Bill got the nickname "The Extreme". After stopping at the Galaxy Drive-In, Dusty tells Jo that a tornado is heading in their direction and afterwards towards where Aunt Meg lives. He then celebrates with the rest of the team when Jo and Bill successfully deploy Dorothy.
