Background
The Hydra guards the Golden Fleece in Colchis.
During the events of Jason and the Argonauts (1963)
The Hydra kills Acastus when he tries to steal the Golden Fleece. It then attacks Jason when he tries to retrieve it, but is killed when Jason stabs it repeatedly in the base of its necks.
