Dr. John Whitney is a doctor in the anthropology department at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, Illinois.
During the events of The Relic (1997) played by Lewis Van Bergen
John Whitney witnesses a Xinxera tribal ceremony when he is offered a bowl of some substance. Whitney drinks the substance and then yells out in horror. At the local port in Brazil Whitney asks Captain Borne, the captain of the cargo ship Santos Morales, to remove Whitney’s crate he had sent. Borne refuses as he is already running late. Whitney sneaks on board the ship and breaks open a crate, however it is not the crate with his items. Whitney is transformed by the Xinxera potion into the Kothoga.
