Caesar then demands the murderer be brought to him tomorrow and leaves with Pompey's head. The next day after Caesar is told the murderer has run away, Caesar has Posca give Pothinus a list of Egypt's debts he is collecting. Ptolemy angrily jumps from his chair, takes the list and throws it at Caesar's feet. Caesar yells at Ptolemy and tells him he is going to stay until Egypt's civil war is over. Later, during a meeting with Ptolemy, Pothinus, Theodotus and Achillas, it is decided that Cleopatra will be killed. Pothinus and Theodotus then convince Achillas to form an army to attack Caesar. Theodotus also sends Lucius Septimius to bring a letter to Caesar. Days later Theodotus and the others are surprised when Cleopatra shows up at the throne room. She condemns Pothinus to death and Pothinus blames Theodotus for turning Ptolemy against Cleopatra. Theodotus is killed and his head added to a spike outside the palace grounds.
