During the events of Flash Gordon (1980)
A Young Treeman sticks his hand in the trunk as part of his initiation into the Treemen and is stung by the Woodbeast. Later, Flash Gordon is forced to stick his hand in the trunk due to him trespassing into the sacred Treemen area.
