Jake and his group are about 400 miles from the remains of New Los Angeles when they are forced to take shelter in an abandoned building from acid rain. He has the group split up between [[Blanca]] and [[Butch]] and himself, [[Kate]] and [[Jesse]] to go search the building. They don't find anyone else, but the building appears to be a research facility. After Jesse mutates and then dies during breakfast, Jake climbs into a tunnel he finds and ends up in the lair of the [[Creepozoid]].
