James Potter was a wizard. He was married to Lily Potter and his son is Harry Potter. James was killed by Voldemort while defending Harry. He won a Quidditch Seeker award in 1972.

Hagrid tells Harry the story of Voldemort and how Harry's parents stood up to Voldemort, but were eventually killed by him.
