Background

Cornelius Oswald Fudge is the Minister of Magic.

During the events of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) played by Robert Hardy

Hagrid lets Cornelius Fudge and Albus Dumbledore in to his hut. Cornelius tells Hagrid that he will have to take Hagrid to Azkaban due to the attacks on the students. Lucius Malfoy walks in and tells Dumbledore the governors have decide it is time for Dumbledore to step aside as Headmaster of Hogwarts. As Hagrid is leaving with Cornelius, he mentions to follow the spiders and someone will have to feed Fang.


During the events of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) played by Robert Hardy

Tom The Innkeeper takes Harry Potter to Room 11 where Hedwig is already inside. Fudge tells Harry a team from the Accidental Magic Reversal Department was forced to reverse what he did to Aunt Marge. He then tells Harry that no harm was done and he will be heading to Hogwarts in the morning. Later, Cornelius Fudge and Professor McGonagall arrive on sled and have a meeting with Madame Rosmerta and tell her Sirius Black told Lord Voldemort where Lily Potter and James Potter] were hiding and killed a mutual friend named Peter Pettigrew and Sirius is Harry's godfather. On the day of Buckbeak's execution Dumbledore, Fudge and The Executioner walk up to Hagrid's shack. After they leave the shack, Cornelius Fudge finds Buckbeak missing, and The Executioner chops a pumpkin in anger.

Cornelius Fudge welcomes the crowd to the 422nd Quidditch Wold Cup and the game starts. After Barty Crouch is found murdered, Cornelius argues with Dumbledore what to do.



During the events of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) played by Robert Hardy

Before Harry's trial, Harry and Mr Weasley see Fudge speaking to Lucius, who is trying to convince Fudge to convict Harry. The trial starts and Dumbledore arrives just in time after not being told the trial would start early. Harry tells the Wizengamot, which includes Dolores Umbridge and Amelia Bones, that he used magic to fight against the Dementors in order to save Dudley Dursley. Mrs. Arabella Figg takes the stand and describes the Dementors. A vote is taken and Harry is cleared of the charges. Later, Fudge accuses Sirius of causing the sudden disappearances of people. After prisoners escape from Azkaban, Fudge tells the Daily Prophet that Sirius is to blame for releasing the prisoners. Percy Weasley drags Harry and Cho Chang, to the meeting with Fudge, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Dawlish and Dolores in Dumbledore's office. They accuse Dumbledore of forming an army to revolt against the Ministry. Fudge orders Kingsley and Dawlish to take Dumbledore to Azkaban and Dumbledore escapes with the help of Fawkes. A battle rages at the Department of Mysteries between Dumbledore and Voldemort, Fudge and other members of the Ministry appear and as Voldemort is ultimately defeated by Dumbledore and runs away, Fudge finally acknowledges that Voldemort is back.
