Mark Antony is a general of the 13th Legion of the Roman Army.
During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 1 The Stolen Eagle played by James Purefoy
Mark Antony is present during the defeat of the Gaulish army of Vercingetorix. A group of men wearing blue dye break into Caesar's camp and steal the eagle standard. Marcus Junius Brutus arrives at Caesar's camp and they discuss recent events and Brutus' mother Servilia of the Junii, who is upset Caesar hasn't written to her lately. Mark Antony interrupts them and asks for gold to reclaim the eagle standard. Caesar orders Strabo to give Antony the gold he needs. Lucius Vorenus is brought before Mark Antony and told he will be in charge of retrieving the eagle.
During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 2 How Titus Pullo Brought Down the Republic played by James Purefoy
During the winter in Gaul near the Italian border, Posca tells Caesar more troops are deserting. He warns Caesar time is running out and they must act, however Caesar reassures Posca he knows what he is doing. When Posca notices a large sum of money has been spent, Caesar tells him he has spent it to nominate Mark Antony as the people's tribune. Strabo is sent with Mark Antony to make sure the dignity of the title of tribune is kept. As Lucius Vorenus, Titus Pullo and Gaius Octavian wait for Mark Antony to finish having sex with a Peasant Woman, Lucius appears nervous of returning home. Antony arrives in Rome to cheers from the people. Antony tells Lucius and Titus to return Octavian to his mother Atia of the Julii. The ceremony to make Mark Antony a tribune ends and the Priest declares him a tribune of the plebeians. At Atia's home Pompey Magnus, Marcus Tullius Cicero and Porcius Cato meet with Mark Antony. Mark Antony tells Pompey, Caesar wants to make a compromise. He will return if he is given a province to protect him from prosecution, and the senators reject his offer. At the senate meeting the Curial Magistrate calls on Scipio to speak. Scipio proposes a formal motion that Caesar must return to stand trial or he will be called a public enemy of Rome. A vote is taken and a majority agree to the proposal, before Mark Antony can veto the motion a brawl breaks out ending the meeting. It is agreed that another session will be held and Mark Antony may then veto the proposal. Mark Antony's group are walking towards the Senate when Stilicho sees Titus and attacks him. Titus kills Stilicho and a fight breaks out. Mark Antony returns to camp and Caesar parades him in front of the troops as a justified reason to invade Rome beyond Caesar being declared an enemy of Rome.
During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 3 An Owl in the Thornbrush played by James Purefoy
Caesar orders Lucius to take Titus and a group of Ubiians to Rome to post a proclamation on the Senate door. He then asks Mark Antony why Lucius seems upset and Mark Antony tells him it is because Lucius feels he will be punished by the Gods for being a traitor. Caesar asks if Lucius can be trusted and Mark Antony promises him Lucius wouldn't betray the 13th Legion. As they near Rome, Mark Antony asks Caesar how he can be so calm and Caesar admits he doesn't feel calm on the inside.
During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 4 Stealing from Saturn played by James Purefoy
Mark Antony is woken up by Atia and asked why Caesar has invited Servilia of the Junii to the party she is having for him. Mark Antony tells her it is probably because her son Brutus has joined Pompey. Mark Antony has Cato the dwarf bring Lucius Vorenus to him. Mark Antony offers a promotion to Lucius if he will rejoin the 13th Legion, however Lucius refuses his offer. During the party held at Atia's home, Mark Antony helps Caesar negotiate a bribe to the Chief Augur. Mark Antony follows Caesar when Titus Pullo brings Quintus Pompey to Atia's house. Caesar orders Titus Pullo to take Mark Antony to the location where he buried the stolen gold from Rome.
During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 5 The Ram has Touched the Wall played by James Purefoy
Mark Antony and Posca argue about the merits of accepting Pompey's peace agreement. Posca wants peace, however Mark Antony believes they should crush the remainder of Pompey's forces. He complains to Atia that the soldiers are getting restless and the only reason Caesar is staying in Rome is so he can be with Servilia. When Caesar is forced to break up with Servilia, Caesar decides to leave Rome, but he makes Mark Antony stay in Rome. Lucius goes to Mark Antony and asks to rejoin the 13th Legion. Mark Antony accepts him back but with one thousand less denarii a month pay than he offered him when Mark Antony asked Lucius to come back to the army.
During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 6 Egeria played by James Purefoy
Mark Antony is holding council in the home of Pompey Magnus when Numa asks him for a favor. After Numa takes too long to make his request, Mark Antony has him and the other supplicants removed. Publius Servilius and his wife Poppea approach Mark Antony, and Mark Antony tells Publius that he is to be Consul on the condition that Caesar is Co-Consul and that he put forth legislation that would require 1/3rd of all farm laborers be free Roman Citizens. Mark Antony receives a letter from Caesar asking him to mobilize the 13th Legion to help him fight Pompey. Mark Antony tells Posca he must think before he mobilizes the legion. Milo approaches Mark Antony and tells him of an offer from Pompey that if he surrenders Rome then his life will be spared and he will be given a province. Mark Antony tells Milo to come back the next day for his answer. He has a date with Atia where she tries to convince him to marry her and become king of Rome and to abandon Caesar. Mark Antony disgusted, calls Atia a harpy and leaves. The next day he mobilizes the 13th Legion and when Milo comes back for his answer, Mark Antony punches him in the face. After the legion is organized, Mark Antony marches out of Rome and the legion takes a fleet of ships towards Greece.
During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 7 Pharsalus played by James Purefoy
Mark Antony joins Caesar in their defeat of Pompey's army at the battle of Pharsalus. When Lucius Vorenus tells Caesar that he allowed Pompey and his family to escape, Mark Antony doesn't understand why Caesar doesn't punish him.
During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 8 Caesarion played by James Purefoy
Mark Antony is sent back to Rome to declare Pompey Magnus has been defeated while Caesar stays in Egypt. He catches Cicero in the senate grounds trying to convince Brutus to betray himself and Caesar in order to rejoin with Cato and Scipio. Mark Antony grabs Cicero's hands and threatens that if he catches him conspiring against Caesar or him again then he will cut off Cicero's hands and have them nailed to the senate doors.

As Caesar is getting dressed for his Triumph, Mark Antony jokes about the facade about appearing to look like a demi-god, which Caesar takes offense to. At the Triumph, Mark Antony sits next to Caesar and exchanges glances with Atia.

At Atia's party, Mark Antony walks up to Octavia of the Julii asks her to put in a good word for him to Atia and she tells him that Atia is only faking that she is mad at him. Once the party is over and the guests leave, Mark Antony corners Atia and after she initially slaps him, they kiss and have sex.
During the events of Rome: Season 1 Episode 12 Kalends of February played by James Purefoy
Caesar is holding a meeting with Mark Antony, Cicero and Posca present where he is outlining his future projects. Lucius arrives and Caesar decides to make him one of the new Senators in order to please the public who have found Lucius' actions in the arena to be heroic. An exasperated Cicero protests to Caesar that not only has he allowed Gauls and Celts into the Senate but he has now made a plebeian a Senator. Later, Caesar tells Mark Antony and Posca that he made Lucius a Senator in order to have a stealth bodyguard that can follow him anywhere in the Senate. As Mark Antony is entering the Senate, he is stopped by a group of Senators who call him away. Mark Antony walks in sees Brutus with the knife standing over Caesar's body and leaves.
During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 1 Passover played by James Purefoy
Mark Antony walks out of the Senate and is chased by Quintus Pompey and a group of armed men. He arrives at Atia's home and tells her he is going north to raise an army. Atia tells him she is leaving with him and he and Timon escort Atia and her family to Calpurnia's home, who Mark Antony says they must pick up. Mark Antony and the others arrive at Calpurnia's home and Calpurnia demands that Caesar's will be read. Posca reads the will which includes freeing Posca, giving a sum of money to the people of Rome and giving his estate to Octavian. Octavian decides to stay and tells Mark Antony that there may be a way to force Brutus to come to a compromise and after hearing that she will be the mother of the richest man in Rome versus Servilia if Brutus compromises, Atia decides to stay. Mark Antony almost runs into Cicero as Cicero is congratulating the assassins in Servilia's home. Mark Antony offers a truce, but before negotiations can commence, Mark Antony sees Quintus Pompey in the room and demands he leave due to Quintus' attempt that morning to murder him. Brutus insists that no order was made to kill Mark Antony, and Quintus is told to leave by Cassius. Mark Antony uses what Octavian brought up about the laws to offer Brutus and the other senators a compromise in which they are given amnesty in exchange for Caesar's will and acts to be upheld and a public funeral. Mark Antony waits outside while the conspirators discuss his offer. Brutus walks outside and tells Mark Antony his offer will be accepted and before Mark Antony leaves, he slashes the throat of Quintus Pompey, killing him. After his successful eulogy, Mark Antony offers to make Brutus a grain monitor so he can leave the city with dignity and protection against the mob. Brutus and the other conspirators agree to leave the city while Servilia is forced to stay.
During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 2 Son of Hades played by James Purefoy
Atia asks Mark Antony to describe Cleopatra to her and he senses her jealousy. Octavian questions Mark Antony when he will transfer Caesar's money to him as promised in Caesar's will and Mark Antony promises once again to get it done. Cleopatra and Charmian arrive and Posca hands the conditions of the negotiations between Rome and Egypt to Charmian who reads it. Cleopatra also requests that Caesarion be called a legal son of Caesar, which Mark Antony rejects. Rich Merchant complains to Mark Antony that with Erastes Fulmen dead, anarchy has erupted between the rival captains in the Aventine. Cicero and Tyro are next in line and Cicero also complains about the violence in the Aventine and then Mark Antony hands him a list of candidates Caesar supposedly had written up for next year's elections. Cicero refuses to endorse all the candidates which he assumes paid Posca to have their names added to the list and Mark Antony compromises. Titus Pullo asks Mark Antony for advice concerning Lucius Vorenus and Mark Antony goes to Lucius' home and demands he take over Erastes Fulmen's role in recompense for his failures after throwing Erastes' head out of the house. Mark Antony tells Atia that Cleopatra requested Caesarion be recognized and he told her no. Octavian tells Mark Antony about Atia's plan to assassinate Servilia when she leaves her party and Mark Antony orders Atia to send Timon and his men away. Octavian approaches Mark Antony once more and asks him for his money and then tells him that he plans on getting a lawyer to get his money. Merula tells Atia about Octavian's pledge to give money to the plebs as dictated in Caesar's will and Mark Antony and Atia storm into Octavian's room. Octavian tells them he plans on getting into politics and Mark Antony attacks him after Octavian calls Atia a whore.
During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 3 These Being the Words of Marcus Tullius Cicero played by James Purefoy
At dinner, Atia tells Mark Antony that she doesn't want to move to Macedonia once his consulship ends and if he does, he will be vulnerable to his enemies. Mark Antony holds a meeting with Cicero in which he threatens Cicero if he does not give a speech to the senate offering the governorship of Gaul to Mark Antony. Mark Antony tells Atia that he didn't have Agrippa arrested because he knows that Cicero will refuse any alliance that Agrippa proposes and he promises not to harm Octavian. In the senate, the Clerk reads Cicero's message in front of the senators and Mark Antony. In the message, Cicero disparages and insults Mark Antony and Mark Antony, in a fit of rage, beats the Clerk to death once he finishes reading the words of Cicero.
During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 4 Testudo et Lepus (The Tortoise and the Hare) played by James Purefoy
Tribune reads the casualty count to Mark Antony after the battle of Mutinae. Posca advises Mark Antony to offer surrender terms to Octavian, but Mark Antony refuses. Lucius runs to Mark Antony and requests to leave and search for his children and Mark Antony gives him permission to leave.
During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 5 Heroes of the Republic played by James Purefoy
Mark Antony brings a deer he hunted to his soldiers to field dress and eat. Lepidus is brought before Mark Antony and given the choice, either join Mark Antony as his second in command or be killed. As Mark Antony and his officers are planning their next move, Atia arrives in camp and brings along Octavian. After some hesitation Mark Antony and Octavian hug.
During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 6 Philippi played by James Purefoy
Octavian and Mark Antony create a list of prominent Roman citizens to kill and Atia adds the family of Jocasta. Before Agrippa leaves with the list, Mark Antony tells him to have Lucius Vorenus have Cicero's hands nailed to the Senate door. At the Battle of Philippi, Mark Antony and Octavian's armies defeat the army of Brutus and Cassius.
During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 7 Death Mask played by James Purefoy
During the wedding of Posca and Jocasta, Atia brings up marriage with Mark Antony. Mark Antony, Octavian and Lepidus hold a meeting where Lepidus tells them that some are worried that the three of them are about to form a tyrannical government. They then decide to split the ruling of Rome intro three different regions of Rome. Mark Antony suggests Octavian take Rome and the west, while he takes Egypt and the eastern provinces, leaving Lepidus with Africa minus Egypt. They all then agree to split the treasury among themselves. Atia complains to Mark Antony about Servilia's continued calling, and he suggests she go to see what she wants. Herod has a meeting with Mark Antony and offers a bribe as a gift. Mark Antony accepts the gift to support Herod as he fights against his enemies. After the meeting, Posca asks what share he will get of Herod's gift and Mark Antony accuses him of being greedy. Mark Antony argues with a Bestiary that he wants lions. Mark Antony and Octavian then have a meeting where Octavian accuses Mark Antony of not sharing his gift. Mark Antony accuses Octavian of not having accomplished anything and borrowing the glory of others. During a meeting between Octavian and Mark Antony they agree to split everything equally and then Octavian suggests a marriage should happen between the two houses after Atia suggests it. Mark Antony tells Atia that he will be marrying Octavia and not her and later he and Octavia get married by the Pontifex Maximus.
During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 8 A Necessary Fiction played by James Purefoy
Lucius reports to Octavian and Mark Antony that the gold shipment was stolen and he promises to bring it back. Octavian introduces Livia to Atia, Octavia, Mark Antony and Agrippa. Octavian then accuses Octavia of betraying him and Agrippa admits to sleeping with Octavia. Octavian tells Mark Antony that he must go to Egypt and not come back. Mark Antony grabs Octavian by the throat but lets go and storms out. Mark Antony approaches the home of Atia and as the Head Lictor tells the soldiers in front of the house to make way, Chief Legionary blocks their way. The Head Lictor asks Mark Antony if they shall use force to enter, and Mark Antony tells him no and then starts yelling Atia's name. Atia opens the door and Mark Antony tells her he is leaving, but he will send for her. Lucius goes to Mark Antony and asks to join him in Egypt and Mark Antony accepts. Mark Antony arrives in Egypt and is greeted by Cleopatra.
During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 9 Deus Impeditio Esuritori Nullus (No God Can Stop a Hungry Man) played by James Purefoy
In the throne room, Bibulus watches as Mark Antony teaches Cleopatra how to shoot a bow and arrow using a man dressed as a deer. Mark Antony fires an arrow that barely misses the man dressed as a deer and the crowd, except Charmian and Bibulus and the other delegates from Rome, clap. Cleopatra tries and misses the man dressed as a deer and blames him for moving. Bibulus offers Mark Antony double the price for a grain shipment. Cleopatra misses again and demands triple the price and Carthage be annexed under Mark Antony, to which Bibulus agrees to. Mark Antony then tells Bibulus that the people will always love him more than Octavian. Before Bibulus leaves, Mark Antony also demands Spain and Cleopatra shoots the man dressed as a deer in the throat and he bleeds to death. Mark Antony and Cleopatra go into their quarters and Mark Antony tells her that he expects Octavian to declare war and Cleopatra suggests he declare war first, but Mark Antony refuses. Posca runs into the throne room and tells Mark Antony and Cleopatra that Atia and Octavia have arrived in Alexandria and they demand to have an audience with him. Mark Antony figures out that Octavian is forcing him to publicly choose between Octavia and Cleopatra. Cleopatra tells Charmian to have a meal prepared for Octavia and Atia, but Mark Antony figures out she just wants to humiliate Atia. Cleopatra suggests killing Atia and Octavia and Mark Antony refuses. Cleopatra accuses Mark Antony of either being a coward or still having feelings for Atia and they fight and make love. Mark Antony has Lucius go and tell Atia and Octavia that they are to return to their ship. Mark Antony goes to Lucius and asks how Atia was and after Lucius tells him what Octavia instructed him to say, Mark Antony asks him if he thinks he is a coward and Lucius tells him he knows he isn't, he just has a disease in his soul that will eat at him until he dies.
During the events of Rome: Season 2 Episode 10 De Patre Vostro (About Your Father) played by James Purefoy
After the Battle of Atium, Mark Antony, Lucius and the remainder of Mark Antony's fleet flee in a boat back to Alexandria. Mark Antony remarks to Lucius that all his life he feared defeat, but now that he has felt it, he is happy to be alive. Emmissary tells Antony and Cleopatra that Octavian has rejected Mark Antony's offer to retire from public life. Cleopatra suggests they flee in the night, and after Mark Antony tells her they should commit suicide, she asks if he can come up with a military trick and he tells her he is a soldier, not a magician. Mark Antony calls the Emmissary to him and tells him to offer single combat to Octavian and then tells Lucius to grab some weapons so he may practice. While Mark Antony and Lucius are practicing sword fighting, an Egyptian Courtier laughs when Mark Antony falls down. Mark Antony orders the Egyptian Courtier to take up a sword and duel with him and then kills the Egyptian Courtier when he slashes Mark Antony in the arm. Emmissary tells Mark Antony that Octavian has rejected his offer for single combat and if he and Cleopatra do not surrender, then he will lay siege to the palace. Mark Antony orders Lucius to have a drink with him and Lucius chugs it down. Cleopatra tells Mark Antony that tomorrow they shall commit suicide. Mark Antony and Lucius then get drunk and reminisce about old times. The next morning, Charmian gives Mark Antony a scroll from Cleopatra telling him that she has committed suicide. Mark Antony tells Lucius to leave while he can and Lucius tells him it has been an honor to serve with him. Mark Antony has Lucius hold a sword to his chest and then shoves himself into the sword, killing himself.
